Delve into the past

This brochure is so much more than a souvenir of your visit to the museum in Wirksworth, it is also a guide to many of the area’s historical places, including a map and photographs to help you plan your visit. The team were really keen for this brochure to be packed-full of images, to really bring the history to life. You will discover silk and red tape woven in the town’s mills, Wirksworth’s own banknotes, a lead miner’s arithmetic book, Ellen MacArthur’s sailing suit, a Georgian hydrotherapy bath, a pair of preacher’s clogs, a Roman jar and much more. See the objects and read the stories of the people who used them and the places they were used.
